The Everybody Eats Program (EEP) kicked off on June 15 and will continue every Saturday this summer.

The booth will be located at the BV Farmers’ Market and each week different food will be made available. The program is promoting members to form a relationship with food by learning about the different ways food can be prepared and to understand where it comes from.

“Everybody Eats program is more than just about food; it’s about what food brings to our community. It fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation for food, makes market food more accessible ... and builds community relationships through shared experiences with food,” reads a statement from Christine Bruce, food security coordinator.

This initiative was created by the Smithers Community Services Association and offers food hampers, coupons and educational efforts, so members have access to healthier food options.

“At our booth, we will share information about the coupon program and offer market tours to anyone interested,” Bruce wrote.

“Additionally, we will have a Pay-It-Forward option at our booth, known as the Love Notes project. This allows anyone to purchase anything at the market from a participating vendor and leave the receipt at our booth for anyone in need to redeem.”
